With the Super Bowl this weekend, many employees will be counting their winnings from office pools on Monday morning. According to a new poll conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management, more companies organize office gambling pools around the Super Bowl than any other sporting event.

According to SHRM survey results, 65% of respondents said their employees organize office pools for the Super Bowl, followed by the NCAA college basketball tournament (57%) and lottery jackpots (31%).

The new poll, “Workplace Policies for Office Pools,” also discovered that 23% of companies have formal policies on the books regarding office gambling, up from 19% in 2008 and 14% in 2006. What’s more, 67% of those policies include a termination clause for workers who don’t comply with the rules, up from 21% in 2008.

So be sure and know your company’s rules concerning your office gamble and enjoy the game!
