Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions now offers its critical-illness insurance policyholders access to comprehensive medical reviews at no extra cost to ensure they are following the best possible treatment plan.
Best Doctors provides a myriad of medical-decision support services such as helping resolve conflicting diagnoses, choosing the most appropriate course of treatment and suggesting whether a sub-specialist is needed. Other uses include finding highly skilled medical expertise for any given condition from a database of 40,000 world-renowned doctors and specialists, as well as recommending questions patients can ask their physicians.
Of the clinical cases warranting review, a Best Doctors analysis found that 61% patients received the wrong treatments, 38% of surgery recommendations were inappropriate, 31% of work-ups were insufficient and 12% of pathology or diagnostic tests were misinterpreted.
