  • Get Your Employees Moving

    November 15, 2011

Just 30 minutes/day of simply walking can cut your employees’ risk of type 2 diabetes in half, the risk of stroke by more than 25%, and the risk of heart disease by almost 40%.*

Getting your employees moving has obvious advantages, for them, and for you. During this presentation, you’ll hear how Avivia Health and JDSU, the worldwide leading provider of broadband test and measurement solutions and optical products, worked together to enhance employee involvement in wellness through team challenges engaging 25% of their workforce.

While it sounds almost like a “miracle cure,” the multiple health benefits of simply walking are amazing, including a reduced risk of diabetes, stroke, some cancers, heart disease, and other chronic diseases. And the physical activity doesn’t need to be strenuous to reap significant rewards; just 30 minutes a day (or two 15-minute sessions) of brisk walking is all it takes. Plus, walking is safe, simple, costs nothing and it’s accessible to just about anyone.

So, mark your calendars and join us for the webinar “Get Your Employees Moving” on Tuesday November 15th at 2:00 Eastern and learn how you can implement a successful group challenge.

  • Using Social Networks to Drive Organizational Change

    November 1, 2011

Organizational network analysis (ONA) is similar to an “x-ray,” providing a view into an organization’s internal workings to help management understand how work really gets done. With that view in hand, the necessary changes can be made to help achieve results, whether it is talent management or adherence to an employee wellness program.

ONA helps to identify how information flows within an organization and who the most connected / influential players are. For a successful program roll-out or internal change, these individuals would have to be engaged and encouraged to participate. Even physicians are believed to be influenced in this manner as a Journal of the American Informatics Association report indicated doctors’ interest and use in EMRs is “whether their friends use them”.

In this webinar, we will discuss more in depth how a network analysis is performed, what insights are found, and how employers can use them to help promote internal program and manage talent effectively.

    Speaker:

    • Dr. Rob Cross
Professor of Management at the University of Virginia and Research Fellow at MedNetworks

Rob’s research focuses on how relationships and informal networks in organizations can be analyzed and improved to promote competitive advantage, innovation, customer retention and profitability, leadership effectiveness, talent management and quality of work life. Rob has worked directly with more than 200 strategically important networks across over 120 well-known organizations in consulting, pharmaceuticals, software, electronics and computer manufacturers, consumer products, financial services, petroleum, heavy equipment manufacturing, chemicals, and government. Ideas emerging from his research have resulted in two books, four book chapters and 23 articles, several of which have won awards.
